Dubrovnick to Split

Our tour guide Lola was incredible !!! she was easy to talk to and extremely helpful She helped us arrange water taxis and answered all of our questions. Lola was great !! We were extremely disappointed with the ship's itinerary. Had we knew that the daily swim stop was actually more than 1/2 a day of swimming and that most shore excursions were to start after lunch, Starting shore excursions at 3;00 or 4;00 is just too late . we would not have taken this cruise. We did not come to Europe to swim, we came to see and explore towns and sights. For instance we visited Milena which was a waste of a day, Nothing really to see. I wish we could have spent the time in Split which is a wonderful and interesting city.

Good overall, but….

The ship is very lovely. The mattress a bit soft for my liking and only 1 pillow is provided, which is silly. The company says it provides one beach towel and one bath towel. It also provides one face towel. What it does not say is that they changed your bath and face towel twice during the cruise. They never change your beach towel, and they don’t dry. It’s pretty gross. Beach towels should also be cleaned once or so per week. We use them every day. The daily itinerary should be reversed. We should go out on the islands in the morning and see the sites and have excursions, and come back to the ship in the afternoon for swimming and relaxing. The lunches are big and heavy, and are better suited for dinners. We could have lunch on our own on the island and dinner on the ship. The staff is amazing Truly helpful and accommodating. Coffee/tea/softdrinks should be included in the overall pricing. I would rather you charge a little bit more upfront and include those things

Great trip and experience with room for improvement

Great crew. Lola was incredible. Itinerary was a bit too light with the morning swim seeming like wasted time. Should charge a bit more and include more without additional charges (coffee, tea and soft drinks; more towels changed more often; greater food variety).

Amazing Luxury Cruise & Crew, but Late-Season Itinerary Needed Better Planning

Our group of 20 sailed on Sail Croatia’s Elegance Cruise aboard Katarina in late September/early October & had a wonderful experience overall. Katarina is a beautiful luxury vessel. The food & drinks were excellent, while the captain, crew & Sail Croatia guide were incredibly welcoming & accommodating. The onboard experience exceeded expectations. Our disappointment was specifically with the late-season stop in Vela Luka. We spent an entire afternoon & evening there, but much of the town had already closed for the season. Restaurants & businesses were shut, taxis & boats were unavailable & we couldn’t arrange transportation to nearby beaches. With our travel dates known well in advance, these seasonal limitations should have been considered. Our group of 20 would have gladly welcomed a different stop or extra time in Dubrovnik. Excellent vessel, food, crew & service—just disappointing itinerary planning for the time of year.

Thank you for your wonderful comments about Katarina and our onboard team! We're delighted to hear that the vessel, food and drinks exceeded expectations, and that our Captain, crew and Sail Croatia Representative made your experience so enjoyable. We're sorry that you found Vela Luka quieter than anticipated. Vela Luka is a scheduled destination on our Elegance itinerary, and while the seasonal operation of local businesses and transport providers is outside of our control, there were a number of options available during the stop, including a wine tasting excursion, Vela Spila and arrangements for guests interested in visiting nearby Proizd. The Captain's Dinner was also held onboard that evening. We appreciate your feedback regarding the late-season experience and have shared this with our Operations Team. We're very pleased that you and your group otherwise had such a wonderful experience aboard Katarina, and we hope to welcome you back in the future!

Late-Season Itinerary Fell Short

We recently traveled on a Sail Croatia Elegance Cruise aboard the luxury vessel Katarina from Split to Dubrovnik in late September/early October. The onboard experience exceeded our expectations. The food was exceptional—fresh, delicious & high quality. The drinks, boat, staff, captain, crew & our Sail Croatia guide were phenomenal & went above & beyond. Our only disappointment was Sail Croatia’s back-office itinerary planning. We spent an afternoon & evening in Vela Luka, only to find the town essentially closed for the season. Restaurants & businesses were closed, there was little to do & no taxis or boats were available to reach nearby beaches. For a luxury cruise, seasonal closures should be considered when planning late-season itineraries. Another stop or extra time in Dubrovnik would have been a much better option. Katarina & the onboard experience were exceptional. We only wish the itinerary had matched the same high standard.

Good Overall

The crew and our tour guide were great and very helpful. It would be helpful if they published better details about the daily flow of their cruises to help manage expectations about time on the boat vs exploring the various port locations. For example you dock in each port overnight and the yacht moves in the morning to the next location with a swim stop each morning. You dock at the next port during lunch and then explore tge port during the hottest part of the day and into the night. Breakfast Buffett was varied and solid. Lunches were not great and the biggest miss for my group.

Easy. Relaxing. Good size.

A fun relaxing week with friends where we were treated to exceptional food and service and places to visit. Our swims each day were memorable and our tour manager (Vedran) a legend with a wonderful sense of humour. We would highly recommend this cruise.

Esperanza Croatia

The cruise on board the Esperanza was a great cruise. The staff was wonderful. The staff and our group of friends got along wonderfully. The food was delicious. But, I would have loved a cup of real coffee instead of instant coffee from a machine. Dino arranged a fishing expedition for us to enjoy. Ivo and Mio kept the drinks flowing and were always smiling. My cabin was refreshed daily. The comfort on the boat in the social areas was nice but there were a few issues that I would like to mention. While there was a blow dryer for drying our hair, the blow dryers lacked power. There was an electric outlet in the sleeping area of the cabin but there was no mirror. A mirror would have been nice for makeup application too. Also the closet did not give us the option to hang anything longer than a shirt. My dresses couldn’t hang long. There was not enough drawer storage at all! Towels were treated like a precious commodity and not refreshed unless asked for. Not true luxury

Sail Croatia - AS

Good but hoped for more time to explore/shop … on the stops. Door stops for bathroom door needed, bathroom re-supply and amenities were poor, toilet was never cleaned in our room. Breakfast window of 8-9 too short when underway by 6-7 each day. A bit more variety in the hot breakfast menu - it was the same fare each day.. More excursions offered with passenger commitment secured before the trip starts - not everyone is into swimming and water sports. Crew and servers were very attentive and friendly. Lunches on board, captain’s dinner and impromptu barbecue dinner on board were excellent. A good sail overall.

Too late and too long

Average at best. The food was well below average and we could not dock at a port until the afternoon. If you like sitting on a ship with nothing to do but play on your phone and take a swim off the back, then it’s perfect. Otherwise do something else.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that some aspects of the experience, particularly the food, did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify that the schedule you experienced reflects the way our small-ship cruises are designed to operate. Ships generally depart in the morning, with time spent cruising and enjoying swim stops along the route, before arriving at the next destination in the early afternoon. The ship then remains in port overnight, giving guests the afternoon and evening to explore the town, enjoy activities and have dinner ashore at their own pace. We appreciate that this style of cruising may not suit everyone, but for many guests the combination of cruising, swim stops and extended time ashore is an important part of the experience. Thank you again for travelling with us and for sharing your feedback.

Sail Croatia? More like Fail Croatia

I was on the "Elegant" cruise on Romantic Star. If you request non-dairy, I hope you like boiled potatoes. If you're paying a single supplement, prepare to be disappointed. At about $5000 for 1 week I expected more than The Annoyed Server, The Angry Sous Chef, and The Bar Tender from Jeers. This is a bad trip for solos and even worse for onesies who don't drink much. I am not a foodie but found most meals weird and unpalatable, especially the village dinner. This has nothing to do with the ethnicity of the cuisine. The trip revolved around couples and wine tasting. Even though I have traveled solo many times and I was with a dozen other friends, I still felt blue from time to time as did some other solo travelers there. One of the perks of i and travel, which of this was not, is that staff learns your name caters to you on some level, and asks if you like, the food. Our tour manager Anita was a rock star. But could not make up for the disinterested staff and lackluster staff.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Firstly, we’re delighted to hear your wonderful comments about Anita, and we’ll be sure to pass these on to her. We’re sorry that your overall experience onboard Romantic Star did not meet your expectations. Having reviewed the feedback from this departure as a whole, guests generally rated their experience highly, so your 1-star rating does stand apart from the broader feedback received. While we understand that you booked independently and paid the single supplement, we would also like to clarify that you were travelling alongside a larger group of approximately 12 friends onboard, rather than travelling solo. Our Elegance cruises welcome guests travelling independently, as couples and as part of groups, and naturally the social dynamic between guests will vary from departure to departure. We appreciate that food is also a matter of personal preference and are sorry that the meals were not to your taste. Your comments regarding your dietary requirements and the service you experienced have also been shared with the relevant team. Thank you again for travelling with us, and particularly for recognising Anita’s efforts throughout your week.

Fabulous

The accommodations and service were great. The food was a little questionable. The crew were all very helpful, especially Klara

Esperanza August 2026

Hi, just wanted to say that whilst the holiday destinations were excellent and the boat and crew generally upto the job, the food on board was way below the standard I would expect for a trip of this nature. This was a generally held opinion of the guests onboard to the extent that it spoilt an otherwise agreeable experience. Thanks.

Wonderful memories!

We had a blast! Boat was great, met wonderful people and weather was perfect! Only criticism was the food. Just ok but overall amazing!

Katarina

Boat was good.Food was mediocre. Lunch was too big, prefer lighter fare. Cruise director was great.

Overall experience was great

Overall great. Brilliant Tour leader with Dino. Fabulous knowledge and nothing he couldn’t do even answering dumb questions by some 😂 Air conditioning was an issue but overall fabulous experience.

- Mike, 04/09/2026 08:04, Travelled with Friend/s

nice but not stellar

The yacht was beautiful but the crew did not seem happy to be there. There were no smiles from the crew members and very little interaction with the guests. One sailor paid no attention to guests even when spoken to directly. The cruise director was somewhat confusing in discussing the next days itinerary. Swim stops were beautiful. More and newer swim toys would have been appreciated. Noodles were crumbling and breaking. On the plus side, the food was amazing and beautifully presented. Kudos to the chef and sous chef. The ships air conditioning was not adequate for the hot temperatures at night. Many had trouble sleeping as the a/c was turned off. The Captain's dinner could only be described as "sweaty". Transfers were well handled. Overall I had a good time with a great group of travelers.

Love Croatia

Excellent holiday and meet some great people from around the world . Cruise manager was excellent with great communication regarding when and what was happening. The girl that cleaned my cabin was outstanding as well, and pleasant to talk with and always smiling. The remainder of the crew were less so . They failed to acknowledge you most times and were not interactive at all. We would have spent more money on bar if the staff had been better trained in the hospitality industry. .

Kararina-The Best Boat on the Water!

Excellent time! Vedran is great tour leader! This boat is Family owned and immaculate! All staff are family and they care deeply about the boat and assuring guests have a great time. The only reason I gave this a 4-star rating is that the air conditioning in the cabins just could not keep up with the boiling outside temperature. Most everyone had issues with the air conditioning. Also, in my opinion, the lighting in the bathrooms is not sufficient. PRO Tip 1: Evidently the cabins below deck stay cooler than those above deck PRO Tip 2: Bring clothing that is quick drying and can be washed in the sink or shower. There are ship bars outside the cabins on the upper deck where you can hang them to dry. Clothes pins are provided. PRO Tip 3: Do not bring anything fancy, cool light weight fabrics are best. PRO Tip 4: A portable travel fan will come in handy. PRO Tip 5: Buy Euro at first island stop for less than getting it at home if not your currency.

Glorious swimming and sailing

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Was impressed with the Olimp: impeccably maintained, everything gleaming, spick-and-span, and the whole crew were friendly & helpful, and Vedran is a star organiser! Our lunches were all delicious. .The breakfast buffet was sufficient except for the "orange juice" which neither looked nor tasted as if it had been near a real orange. Breakfast was too short, and too early. Should last until at least 10am, Also I'd have liked the option to eat on the outside deck. When at sea who wants to be in an enclosed space.? The highlight of the trip was swimming. But I wanted more & longer swim stops. Most were only 1 hour - not enough to enjoy repeatedly jumping into that gorgeous turquoise sea! I'd have also appreciated more time actually sailing, not moored in a port. The expeditions were at the hottest time of day, so I mostly opted out and relaxed on the ship's cushions in the breeze - that upper deck lounging area was a perfect touch of luxury!

Cruise comments

Our holiday was great, and our rep Vicko was very good . The boat was comfortable and clean, the food was excellent . My only complaint is that on Sunday we were thrown off one and a half hours. Before our airportbtransport arrived In a heat;of 33 and told to go to a cafe down the road which was closed and the seats wired up which with luggage is unacceptable. Caroline Cornell

Enjoyable and relaxing

Good trip Lovely weather Beautiful scenery Lovely staff No WiFi in room disappointing Thrown off bat at 08.30 into a concrete jungle yet taxi booked for 10.00 - stupid

Ms

I enjoyed the cruise itinerary and the ship was very nice. Unfortunately other cruise attendees were obnoxious and inconsiderate. the ship staff seemed to favor the needs of these individuals, making the overall experience unpleasant at times. I chose an Elegance cruise expecting a different environment. Even other cruise ships were complaining about our “party ship”

AG

The sailing holiday was very good, the boat , OLIMP, was great and the size of the cabin brilliant. Service was very good by the staff and Dino was quite good as the co-ordinator. The only issue was with the payment of the bar. tab at the end of the trip and what cards that were accepted. A few things should be made clearer at the start of the trip so as not to have them becoming an issue on the last night. I will be recommending this trip to fiends for sure.

Coastal Croatia Adventure

Croatia's coastline is simply beautiful and the cities of Dubrovnik and Split were well worth the visit. The smaller islands were interesting and pretty if missing cultural interest, but thanks to our wine-themed cruise, there was always something to see/do. The crew and especially our guide Lola were cheerful, helpful and fun (my husband and I were traveling with a solo friend, so with 3 at our table, we were able to share a lot of meals with Lola). We've done a number of cruises in the past, from 120 passengers up to about 2000, and unfortunately I'm prone to seasickness, so on that front the trip was not great - I definitely appreciated our captain's decision to skip one island due to rough seas! The smaller size ship also meant that our cabin was much smaller than what we've experienced before and there was really nowhere other than the dining area for people to gather together when it was raining which was unfortunate. Overall, it was a lovely experience!

- Barbara, 18/05/2026 07:21, Travelled with Friend/s

Could have been better

I'm sorry I cannot give a 5 star review. The great things about the ship was the chef, the crew and the facilities. All great - clean, organized, well run. My disappointment was in the lack of excursions on the islands between Dubrovnik and Split. I thought that we should have some kind of introduction to each island and short walking tour each time we docked. Everyday was a swim day and because the water was too cold to swim I had hoped that an adjustment would be made to the schedule for an alternate activity. Perhaps dock earlier to give us some time off the boat. There was too much sitting around time. From breakfast, through lunch there was nothing to do if you did not swim (& no one did). We did not disembark til 2 pm. Our tour dir. did her job perfunctorily and made arrangements as requested, She was not as visible or involved with our group. Although she said she has been doing this for 4 years she came off as unsure and inexperienced.

Glorious and joyful on Queen Jelena's 2026 season inaugural sail

Intimate (but not crowded) specialty cruise: Best of Croatia Wine with 32 passengers on board beautifully crafted and built elegance passenger ship guided by an exceptional Captain Gordon, a team of gracious crew: warm welcome every moment of the day by Luce, Pamela in the salon, delicious meals by Chef Frans and Aline, comfortable and spotless cleaned cabin by Emma, expeditiously attentive and hardworking by sailors, Josip and Josip, and a kind, clam expertise of the cruise manager, Lola; who is always presence with daily planned itineraries to many of the best Croatia wine venues as well as attuned to all passengers' needs and requests.

Relaxed Scenic Cruise

The cruise was lovely & scenic. I wish we had more time at the ports, the time spent at the swim stops & lunch seemed a little too long. Staff were nice & very professional. Ship was well maintained & very clean.

Olimp is beautiful and so is Croatia!

We had the best vacation on the Olimp with 10 of our friends. The boat is beautiful, cabins are modern and bathrooms are great. There is plenty of space (in the sun or in the shade) to relax and enjoy the passing scenery. Captain George and the Olimp crew were fantastic, making sure we were safe, happy and well feed & ‘watered’! The islands we visited were lovely and we all enjoyed wondering round and exploring them. Daily swim stops were fun and locations were always very picturesque.

- Nicola, 05/10/2025 08:54, Travelled with Friend/s

Great crew, pretty good boat

Martina and Mio were great. The Guide from Sail Croatia was a little tightly wound and confrontational. The food was just okay, and that’s probably generous. The worst part was all the noise on the boat. Spend ten bucks and put felt sliders on the chairs in the saloon. Seriously. The chair sliding noise killed all the cabins right below it. The drink prices were stupid for what you get. The food was very forgettable. But the boat and the crew were good!

- Jason, 01/10/2025 19:49, Travelled with Friend/s

Wonderful experience and great value

We traveled with a group of friends. This cruise perfectly loans itself to a friendly and fun experience. The crew was fantastic, in particular Mio and Martina. They made our experience so much more fun and their attention gave a much higher level of service than expected. The slow progression through the islands felt luxurious and calming. I never felt a moment of motion sickness. The islands and coastline are absolutely stunning. The cabins are good sized, the showers had good water pressure and temperature. The bar was well stocked and available when we wanted it. The only weak area of improvement is the meals. The long lunch is lovely but some of the dishes were not delicious. The daily salad bar was good as was the breakfast. We would have preferred a longer breakfast time. It was early and too short.

Lovely cruise but definitely room for improvement.

The beautiful ship. The amazing swim stops. The clean and spacious cabins. The ‘welcome on board’ canapés. The opportunity to experience some beautiful, picturesque islands. The Captains dinner. The itinerary. Mio & the lovely cleaning lady who cleaned our cabins. Only having 14 guests on board. Room for improvement:: The staff could be more friendly (except Mio and the cleaning lady - they couldn’t do enough for you); there should be more fish served as part of our lunches as we are out at sea and in the Adriatic! The lunches were lovely but certainly could be improved; the breakfasts and fresh fruit needed to be replenished as you were scared of having too much and not leaving enough for other passengers. It was not clear that you could have more. The chief female waitress in my opinion didn’t want to be there and that was more than obvious at times. As there was only 14 guests on board, it felt like most of the crew were ‘on a jolly’ and did not make enough effort to satisfy.

- Anonymous, 05/08/2025 08:53, Travelled with Friend/s

Great itinerary

We really enjoyed the itinerary and The Esperanza was very well maintained. However some issues need addressing. The staff don’t appear to be very happy in their work place. Deck hands rarely smiled, the waitress in the salon was at times most inappropriate and borderline rude. It’s not every day you hear the F word or gestures using an arms whilst talking to passengers. So totally unprofessional and disrespectful to the Captain.. We appreciate that crew are able to go ashore for free time but please don’t tell the passengers that drinking of alcohol was consumed whilst ashore and then come onto deck to work; Safely for guests and crew surely should be paramount. The salon steward Mio went above and beyond to make every moment a pleasurable experience. The food lacked any wow factor, breakfast tepid, cold ravioli not nice, lettuce leaves as a salad, fruit bowl not replenished until we complained Only 14 guests in total and that shouldn’t mean less effort.. Representive did his job.

Great and could be fabulous

More outdoor meals would be great. More and better pillows definitely. Some type of equipment for swimming stops, stand up boards maybe? Captains dinner earlier on in trip so everyone mingles more earlier on. Staff were great, boat comfortable and well maintained/clean.

Excellent

The boat was in excellent condition and very well maintained by the crew. The meals were consistently tasty and served promptly. Our cabins were surprisingly larger than we thought and cleaning service was amazing.

Sail Croatia week ending 10/06/13 on Olimp

The crew was fantastic. Very friendly and accommodating. We were kept informed on a daily meeting about changes and weather situations concerning our travels. V our guide was great, suggesting restaurants and other things about the Croatia people. I would choose to do this trip again. It was a vacation of a lifetime! Most people were not happy that coffee couldn't be have after 9:00 am.

Rick Ball

Staff was great. Especially Klara and Pamela. We enjoyed the swim stops and island stops. The meals were so so too much fish for my liking. They’ve in our room didn’t work for 1/2 the week. The tours were great, Capains dinner/dance and wine tours as well I would include gratuity in the price and/or arrange for credit card payments for on board liquor purchases for some people I spoke to were surprised they needed so much euros at the end of the trip which may have an effect on gratuity’s We would highly recommend Sail Croatia to anyone that asks us

We really enjoyed the entire week. The swim stops and ports are perfection. Our host for the week was so lovely. The only negative was the food. It was mediocre quality and taste.

Split North

Overall the trip was excellent. However if you look into the fine details then you can find major issues. For example tipping policy is terrible ad should be scrapped. Company say one figure staff say a different figure and service you receive is not worth either amount. Some staff’s appearance could improve especially first thing in the morning at breakfast. Sail Croatia and crew of Jelena, have forgotten who the customer is, in respect of, a customer works hard to save money to go on holiday and we are all suffering with cost of living being expensive no different to the crew. Excellent on the face but poor in detail

The service from the arrival to leaving everything was smooth and personalized It was a first time cruise for my self . Really enjoyed the experience of sailing on smaller vessel.

Olimp. Review

What we liked about Sail Croatia: The boat was beautiful and the staff was courteous and helpful. We enjoyed the overnight stays, and the optional UNESCO dinner. What we did not like about Sail Croatia:: The hot tub was not hot, lukewarm at best. Meals choices were limited if you did not like the day’s meals you were out of luck as there were no other choice. No activities or music on board other than a swim stop (weather permitting). The included traditional dinner venue was nice but the food was too bland for our taste. The bar staff charged our account for a bottle of wine and several drinks that we did not order. They need a better accounting system for the onboard liquor. This cruise is better suited for people who want it quiet and with minimum people. For people who enjoy lounging in the sun reading books as there is little else to do when you are onboard. This type of cruise is not for us.

We're glad to hear that you enjoyed your beautiful ship, that you found the staff helpful onboard, and that the overnight stays were a memorable experience! We're sorry to hear that some elements of the cruise weren't as you expected. A daily buffet breakfast and 3-course lunch are included daily on all cruises. Set menus allow the onboard chef to prepare meals to a high standard using fresh, local ingredients. Unfortunately due to the size of the galley onboard our luxury small ships, an a la carte menu is not possible, however we are more than happy to accommodate dietary requirements. Unlike large cruise liners, Sail Croatia cruises are all about experiencing an authentic side of Croatia onboard luxury small ships, being shown the secrets of this incredible country by local, welcoming staff and experiencing culture, food and historical sights with like-minded travellers. Our cruises dock overnight in each destination, bringing guests into the midst of each town/harbour by mid-afternoon. After enjoying breakfast and lunch onboard, relaxing at a swim stop and cruising towards your next destination, ships are docked along the waterfront, ensuring guests are able to explore each destination at their leisure, participate in optional activities or indulge in local cuisine in one of the local restaurants.

Really one of the best vacations Jodie and I have taken!

1. The staff and crew (The captain, Loana, Thomas, Phillip and all others) were so friendly and accommodating. Thumbs up to all of them. 2. The personalities of all quests and their traveling tales were so interesting to hear. 3. The organization that Loana showed us throughout the cruise was top notch. You could tell she spent many an hour with the preparation of the trip's details. 4. The timing updates from Loan of each day's activities created a stress-free atmosphere. 5. The cabin's interior was very relaxing and spacious, and the room's comforting decor for the size of the ship was a Level 5. 6. The added activities (village farmhouse wine tasting and authentic Croatia dinner and serenading musicians) were wonderful. They made the cruise so special. 7. The navigational skills that the captain exhibited were very reassuring. The negatives that the cruise company could approve upon: 1. The air quality in the cabin's created some health issues with a few quests.

Review croatia

I love having such a small ship. Crew was wonderful. Mostly meals were delicious. Our Mia was wonderful and full of valuable information. She was very approachable and responsive. She is a lovely lady. The bar prices were high and the pours were small. There seemed to be difficulty having the hot tub hot at night for coming home before bed. I also wish we had access to coffee earlier in the morning. 8 am is a bit late for early risers. Towels never dried . So second day we had to use wet towels.

Really great experience

We got to see so many of the islands with little effort. My only criticism is that we were told we would disembark 10.00, and, at the last minute it was changed to 8.00, which made it very difficult for many of us who had ongoing plans booked for later, and had two hours to kill in between, having to store luggage and try to alter plans. Also, it would have been good to have more time in Dubrovnik. By the time we did the History tour it was a scramble to manage the walls before they closed.

very friendly and helpful staff. lovely anchorages for midday swims and towns visited. Should have name tags for all guests with home location upon arrival. Complementary dinner ashore was only fair Tours were very expensive and not great

Croatia did not disappoint!

Great staff, beautiful boat. Our cabin was unusually small compared to others on our cruise - even single person cabins were significantly larger, notably the shower. Cabins need more hooks or places to dry things. Food on the cruise was great - though breakfast could have had more variety. Itinerary took us to fantastic locations. Wish we could have spent more time exploring the locales on our own. Our cruise director Mia was spectacular! The two group events on the boat needed some help. The cocktail hour on the top deck was lit with horrible emergency lighting and not conducive to a party atmosphere. The captain's dinner concept was nice, but we would have preferred to eat in a local village restaurant, The entertainment at the captain's dinner was clearly skewed to an older audience and half the room left before the music was finished. But overall we really enjoyed our experience.

Esperanza 25 August

Boat was fantastic Route and swim stops great Food was excessive at lunch time. Would have preferred a lite lunch with more fresh salads and sandwich type options. Breakfast were good, but coffee service could have been better. I got food poisoning from the captains dinner and missed a day of the trip. Staff made no apology or did not check on my health. That was disappointing and really didn’t end my trip well. I also think six nights would have been better and we should have finished when we arrived in Dubrovnik. Thanks

Hi Marisa,Thank you for your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed the boat, route and swim stops. All cruises include 3-course lunches which is usually a starter, main and dessert - I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy with the lunches served, our chefs aim to provide a variety of meals using fresh, local produce. Thank you for your comments on the breakfasts you enjoyed, and we appreciate your comments regarding the coffee. Our chefs and kitchen staff follow strict food hygiene and cleanliness protocols to ensure the safety and quality of the meals we serve on board. Upon checking our internal reports we can confirm that there have been no reported cases among our passengers or crew during the period of your cruise. From the feedback you provided at the end of your cruise, we're pleased you enjoyed other aspects of the cruise and would recommend us to others. Thank you.

Kraljca Jelena Maintenance

We felt the boat needed maintenance. The bathroom sink leaked and the shower sprayed water everywhere but on your body. Apart from that it was amazing. thank you

Esperanza boat

We though sail Croatia was good value for money but later found better boats for way cheaper. Disappointed in the service, cleanliness and food . Room floor was not washed once, luckily small and washed ourself. , The shower not cleaned once. Had to ask to change the linen, when we were informed that it will be changed on the Wednesday. It was eventually done on Thursday. Food quality of an old age home. Asked for double bed slept on two single beds. Later found that owner of ship children work on the boat. Thats maybe why! Stops on islands was however amazing and Boris / tour operator working for the boat was very helpful and assisting us with places to visit and Restaurants suggestions on the islands. The boat was way more expensive that a big cruise liner and does not justify the cost of this small boat travelling. When we got of the boat there was no farewell greeting by the staff or someone helping with the luggage. 😪😢.

Elegance Cruise

It was a great 7 days on the Queen Jelena and the schedule saw us visit fantastic islands from Split to Dubrovnik. We had a great crowd of people on our trip, and swim stops were amazing. Cabin was better than we anticipated. Food was bland and lacking vegetables and salads of any kind, soup on a 35 degree day is not ideal. There is an opportunity in this area. Our tour guide was pretty absent, apart from his lunch time speech, although he was humorous. Would recommend doing this trip.

- Simon, 02/08/2023 16:03, Travelled with Friend/s

Wonderful

We loved our boat trip, we met fabulous people and went to amazing places. The staff were good and our cabin was bigger than expected. A few points to note: More hooks on doors would have been good More fresh towels(especially beach) The food was good but too heavy and hot for lunch time, it was very protein and carbohydrate heavy, who needs a three course meal at lunch time in 36 degree heat???There was a lack of salads and vegetables, some meals were just meat and potatoes, we were expecting more bbq style food with salads and grilled veges, I also found the meals to be very formal, maybe something a little more causal would have been nice, or even eating outside perhaps. Our tour leader was a lovely guy, with a great sense of humour, but we didn’t really see that much of him, and there were occasions when as a group we all felt that he could have done more.

Elizabeth

Esperanza is a beautiful boat and passing scenery breathtaking. Douha our host and all crew were wonderful. Swim stops were a favourite of ours and Douha had great knowledge of Croatia and ensured everything ran smoothly for us. Only negative was price of alcohol on board was very expensive and breakfast and lunch although good my expectations were somewhat higher.

- Elizabeth, 01/08/2023 04:35, Travelled with Friend/s

The boat crew were amazing. Boat was clean. Done Sail Croatia 3 times now. Prefer Split South return route.

Wonderful!

Beautiful boat, smooth sailing, great service especially the bar and food serving, good company, the swim stops, the breakfasts, layout of the decks, spaciousness, varied itineraries. Would have liked a less formal lunch or less time at lunch. And would Have liked to spend more time in Korcula town.

Russell

Excellent presentation of the ship especially the hydraulic system at the stern to lower the deck for lswimming. Great meals and cruise director was very visible Only problem was the main barman being a little Unprofessional. Loved everything about the cruise. Well done.

- Elizabeth, 27/06/2023 06:54, Travelled with Friend/s

Failed to meet expectations

Compared to recent cruises in the region, the food quality and choice offered was poor and repetitive. Bar closed too early in the evening. Pillows in the room were substandard and uncomfortable. Often had bad drain smell in cabin. The Tour Guide, Stjephan, was outstanding and the rest of the crew very good.

Sailing Croatia

I would not sail when places on the islands are not open. Or at least tell your customers that most shops and tourist places are not open yet and let them decide to sail or not. Staff on you ship need to understand English and also speak it. Also the bartenders should know how to make all types of drinks that are available

Elegance cruise

I enjoyed our cruise with vedran. He was very charming and Knowleagle about the country and the locations we visited. He always had a lot of helpful recommendations. For the most part the ship was good, although we had to change rooms twice during our stay. Once because the original room had a bit of a sewer smell that wasn’t going away and again because the beds in the second room couldn’t be split into twin beds as requested. I did ask sail Croatia to otivii out de a refund for the difference between the upper deck cabin we booked and paid for and lower deck cabin we ended up with. They refused but did offer two separate upper deck rooms, which we declined because we didn’t want to move again with i Oo only 1-2 days rendininv on the cruise. The food was mostly quite good but there could’ve been more variety at breakfast. Free coffee and tea throughout the day was not offered and would’ve been a nice, basic amenity 2 offer. Boat was nice & mostly in good shape but problems w/ hottub

Hi Brynna, Thank you for your 4 star review! How wonderful to read you enjoyed your cruise and that your Representative Vedran took great care of you. We were sorry to read about the cabin change that took place during your cruise. Our Elegance cruises are operated on small cruise ships. At times if there is bad weather, smell can occur in the bathroom emitting from the shower drains. This is due to the movement of the ships on the water whereby this movement opens up airflow at the back of the pipe and into the bathroom. We were very pleased that our Operations team offered alternative Above Deck cabins as per your booking, however as you preferred to stay in the Lower Deck cabin fitted with two single beds which was more of a priority for you, no refund was due. Thank you for your feedback regarding food, coffee/tea and amenities onboard - these are well received as we are always looking for ways we can improve our services, along with the experience itself for our customers.

Trip

I would like to suggest that you don’t start your cruise season while the islands are still closed and not much open. The bar staff should also understand how to make drinks if have them on the list of drinks. May yea and coffee should be free all day ( not a big cost to you )We had a good cruise besides these minor things.

MANAGEMENT SCREW UP ….

Steve, Bobby, Barbara and the rest of the crew were WONDERFUL. However, I have to COMPLAIN with the MANAGEMENT of SAIL CROATIA!,!! When I purchased my ticket, I specified that I was GLUTEN FREE and was told that the crew would accommodate but they NEVER received the MEMO !!! Because of this, I missed out at every meal and tea time. Because of this, I had a GLUTEN attack and lost a lot of enjoyable times and missed outings. I paid as much as every other guests but received less. Steve, Bobby and even the cook apologized for what happened to me which I greatly appreciated, but I still lost a full day recovering . What’s the point of telling the booking department about your allergies if they don’t pass the message to the crew so they can accommodate the person from day one. This is a DEAL BREAKER to someone with food allergies I had a talk with Steve and made some suggestions on how the service could be improved and I hope he will share those with you . Feel free to contact me !!!

Lovely Trip

The ship was very clean, well laid out and the staff were excellent. The itinerary was well thought out, visiting the various islands and mainland ports, with well timed swim stops and ports of call. The captain did an excellent job of avoiding inclement weather by switching up the order of island visits. Good choices of excursions and lots of free time to explore. One criticism would be the food-the last lunch wasn’t great and dietary concerns that were listed at booking and assured that would be followed were not relayed to the crew or followed. The captains dinner was lovely, but with wine glasses set on every table, we thought some local wine might be provided by Sail Croatia (a bottle of red at a local winery is only €10)-that would have been a nice “wow” factor. Also, there wasn’t a paddle for the paddleboard, and the only water float toy disappeared, as well as odd masks and one poorly fitting fins. Indoor board games would be a good idea to have on hand for inclement weather.

Not Elegance

We travelled on the New Ship Roko. It was beautiful, Croatia was beautiful but this was not what I would consider an Elegance Cruise. We were expecting exceptional service. It was mediocre. The staff was informative but not polite, smiling or happy. They were robotic, dismissive, aloof, going through the motions. The captain never smiled, greeted people, not even a courteous wave when walking past you. He did his job, nothing else. The food at breakfast was good, nice variety but ran out of fresh fruit every day. Lunch was a sub par version of English cooking. We were expecting Authentic Croatian cuisine. I only ate 50 % off them. They ran out of fresh lettuce every day. The rooms were straightened up each day with fresh towels. They were not cleaned. Every day there was dust/hair etc on the bathroom floor. I would clean up every morning after the cabin maid left. This is what I would expect from a Navigator, or Explorer Cruise. I didn't consider it an Elegance Cruise at all!

We do have a process in place for any issues that may arise onboard and if we are made aware at the time, we can quickly resolve these matters. I have checked our reports and cannot see that any issues were raised with the Onboard Rep. Thank you for your comments regarding the meals served, it's great to hear that you found breakfasts enjoyable. Upon request the chef will of course provide you with more servings and is always open to suggestions. We offer daily cabin cleaning and a mid-week thorough cleaning service with linen and towel change. If our crew members were made aware of the dust/hair, this would have been resolved immediately to ensure this does not happen again. We thank you for voicing your concerns here, and we do hope that you were able to enjoy all other aspects of the cruise.

Disappointing trip

The ship staff and quality of service is not what we experienced on our period 2 trips with sail croatia. 1. Rooms, bed comforters were just placed on beds. There were never completely done up with pillows, 2 of the days we’re not even done, mirror was dirty for the week. 2. Bar service was poor, common drinks were never made properly. Previous trips with sail croatia, a glass of wine was served with lunch. 3. We received a nice bottle of champagne since it was out 3 rd trip. We don’t drink champagne so we asked them to deliver it to a newlywed couple on the boat. It was never done. We asked what happened to the bottle, it was then delivered 4 days later. 4. Food quantity and quality was poor, always ran out of fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch. When asked if they had any more salad they said it was all gone, 5. Final Bill, They added a $200 kuna ($30Us) charge to reprogram the key that never worked. After arguing with them they reversed it.

Thank you for your review Stan, we value your feedback as a 3rd time devoted Sail Croatia guest. On our Elegance cruises we offer daily cabin service with mid-weekly linen change. If you ever need any additional cleaning, the crew are always more than accommodating. I have checked our internal reports and can't see that this was raised with any of our crew members or Onboard Representative to get this resolved for you. In regards to the meals, the chef is more than happy to provide more servings upon request. We are pleased to hear that the key was resolved and that the bottle of champagne was gifted to the newly wedded couple. We appreciate all your comments here Stan and we hope that these issues didn't detract from your overall enjoyment onboard. Thank you.

Not the same 'Sail Croatia'

This is our 3rd time travelling with Sail Croatia and yet again we had the most fantastic time, however, we did notice a few things that we feel needed to be addressed. 1) The cleanliness of the ship overall was not good and the 'sun' deck was not cleaned in the whole week we were on board (I spilt a coke and the stained remained all week). The bar deck was the same and sometimes the tables were still covered in the empty glasses from the night before. 2) The route was changed with no apparent reason and therefore I spent the first day changing booked trips. 3) The captains night was the 1st night (usually the 2nd to last) and most passengers were tired and retired before the entertainment finished). 4) Smoking was allowed pretty much anywhere on outside decks and although I am a smoker, this was not welcomed by most of the passengers. 5) The cushion covers on the sun loungers were not cleaned in time and we therefore spent the first day and half without cushions. run out!

Hi Heidi - Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you had a fantastic time with us, however we are disappointed that as a valued 3rd time returning customer of ours, you found there was a difference in standards. In regards to the cleanliness onboard, the crew are always on hand to assist wherever possible and if they are made aware, any spills will be cleaned up immediately. The ship goes through a thorough cleaning regime prior to your sail and during the week we complete daily cabin cleaning services plus a mid-weekly thorough clean throughout the cabin including linen change. We will pass your comments regarding the glasses on tables to the captain via our Operations Team. I can see from our internal records that there was a slight change in itinerary due to strong winds and for the safety of guests, the captain decided to change this slightly. This can happen as explained in your pre-departure information. The original itinerary was as follows: Dubrovnik, Mljet, Hvar, Stari Grad, Split, Makarska, Korcula, Dubrovnik. The adjusted itinerary was as follows: Mljet, Makarska,Split, Stari Grad, Hvar , Korcula, Dubrovnik. I understand the Onboard Rep had communicated this to all guests, so they were made aware.Smoking onboard is permitted in open areas of the ship. I understand that the cushion covers were being prepared and were not ready until the 2nd day of the cruise, this was explained to all guests onboard also. We do thank you for all your comments here Heidi, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your review with us. We hope to have you back with us again in the near future.

Return trip on Queen Jelena

This was our second trip on Queen Jelena and the ship, crew and host were just as good this time around. This time we travelled North from Split and the only negative of the trip were the excursions which consisted mostly of walking tours during the hottest part of the day. Nowhere near as much fun as the white water rafting, cycling or buggy driving that you can do when travelling South. At least the village dinner was better than the last one!

- Maria , 13/09/2022 06:13, Travelled with Friend/s

Relaxing

Such a relaxing way to see a lot of Croatia. Everyday new villages to explore, new restaurants to try, sampling new drinks in hidden bars up lanes and alleys. Very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough to ensure you enjoyed your time on aboard, with good food and lots of it. A multinational bunch of travellers who soon become a group of friends to share the trip with and stories of each other’s lives. Improvements:- small things such as padded sun bed covers, stronger aircon in rooms. Daily visible Computerised drinks bill so you know what cash is required, longer stays in port, I would recommend this holiday and will certainly be repeating this format for all future holidays.

Great week

The ship we sailed on was the Olimp and it was just beautiful. The group we had was only 25 and there was a wide variety of ages but everyone mixed really well. The food the biggest surprise- absolutely 5 star meals. What a great effort to create such amazing food in such a small space. We loved Croatia so much and being able to access the ports so easily on a smaller ship was just. The views from the top deck were spectacular. Great trip!

Wonderful Experience Boat Locations Guests

Being the last week of the season the staff were clearly worn down and voiced this. They were very efficient but disconnected from guests. The spa was never hot enough and when asked it was never addressed...the spa needed to be on and hot and ready to go at all times.

Split to Dubrovnik

Cruising the Adriatic Sea aboard the Queen Jelena was a memorable week. The scenery is breathtaking! The boat is very comfortable and the staff was outstanding! This is however a very slow pace cruise. If that is what you want, then it is perfect. I expected more activities. But the small cruise setting was very nice indeed.

Disappointing food or an average chef !!!

The places we visited doing a back to back boat cruise on the Esperanza were beautiful but the six of us (friends) thought our food was very average.for the money we paid. Our Chef seemed to overcook our dishes particularly the main courses. Another gripe we had was there should be shampoo or soap left in our bathroom everyday but the only time shampoo was left was when we had to ask for it. Several noodles would help for our swim stops but everything else was fine and the staff very obliging.

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your cruise with us onboard Esperanza, on both Elegance Split Return (North) and (South) routes. Esperanza is beautiful and we are sure all six of you were well taken care of by the captain and crew. In saying this, the onboard chef's feedback this season has been 4-5 star, so we are sorry to hear of your disappointment with the food and your comments will be passed on to the relevant department. There is a shampoo/shower gel dispenser included in your cabin for use. Our cruises don't include inflatables, however at times past guests will leave this onboard for future guests to enjoy. These can also be bought from the local markets. Thanks again for your comments as it's with such comments we can look to improve where possible.

Highly recommend Great accommodation, good size of ship and well maintained Great crew great hostess Beautiful country If you are a “foodie” you will be disappointed Captains Dinner as an event was overrated Two islands on originally booked itinerary were dropped and substituted with Split which we had already visited

Great Way to Visit the Dalmatian Coast

The boat was beautiful and had great amenities. The ability to see so much of Croatia and visit a variety of cities and islands was wonderful. The staff was friendly and helpful and had a sincere desire to make our trip memorable and comfortable. The only area that could have used some improvement was the lunches. It would have been nice to have the Sail Croatian representative give his spiel about the history and adventure options while we were eating rather than waiting until the end of the lunch and thus detaining us from getting on land and exploring earlier.

The representatives do like to allow guests to enjoy their meal times and we see lunches as a great opportunity to socialize with other guests on board. Thank you for taking the time to review your cruise and we hope to hear from you again in the future!

Split to Dubrovnik Elegantly

We were fortunate to be amongst a great crowd of guests who all enjoyed each other's company and the excellent dining on board and ashore. We all shared great confidence in the Captain and crew who inobtrusivly went out of their way to make out holiday a comfortable and memorable one. Would have been 5 stars but for the weather on a couple of days. But, hey, swimming in Slano was a pretty good substitute for cycling in the National Forest. Thanks Antonio.

Our return trip from Spli was a great experience. The itinerary gave us a taste of all the glorious scenery on the Dalmatian Coast. The stops were well organised and gave plenty of time for individual exploring ashore. We were well fed with delectable fresh meals and out cabins were kept sparking clean. Well recommended.

Sail Croatia - Split return

Food choice - no choice for lunch and, at times, the menu offered was mediocre. Not particularly tasty or appetising.. Tour guide - much of our on - land time was self - directed with a very limited explanation of what to see and how to get there. Wi - fi - virtually non existent unless very late at night or in the early hours of the morning. I have compared our expereince with those travelling with Katerina who, for a very similar price, experienced an amazing choice of food, including 4 dinners, barista coffee and had a tour guide to assist at all locations explaining and taking them to the points of interest. The ship could not be faulted nor the attentiveness of the crew.

Hi there and thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear that the ship was of a high standard and the crew were a welcomed inclusion on your cruise. However, we are sorry to hear of your disappointments with some aspects of your cruise, mainly with the meals. Our chefs aim to provide delicious, home cooked meals using fresh local produce, so we are sorry to hear that the meals served were not to your taste. Having a look at the feedback received for your departure, the average rating for onboard meals was 4-stars. We pride ourselves on providing the best local, informative and friendly Tour guides so it is disappointing to read that you received limited information. Looking at the feedback received for your rep, he had received all 5-star ratings which is great. However, in light of your review we have highlighted your comments to our Operations Manager, thank you. We do hope that you were able to enjoy all other aspects of your cruise with us - fellow travellers, destinations, organised tours and excursions and that these issues didn't detract from your overall experience in Croatia.

Not a good value for the money

For the price paid, bottled water should be provided in cabins. A few of the lunches were very good but-many of them were not good. the first day’s beef was over cooked & tough. The second day’s fish was over cooked & dry. The captain’ s dinner was excellent. In Hvar we were brought in by water taxi & the yacht stayed out until almost 9 o’clock & had to sit around all day waiting to get back on board. Exhausting sitting waiting after dinner to board. No place to sit if you had already left the restaurant. Just sitting around killing time. We had a below deck cabin, which was recommended by the agent because they are quieter. She did not tell us that we had to climb three flights of stairs every time we wanted to go up to the top deck where everyone congregated. We are both 80 & she should have known that when she made the recommendation. Is it something that I would recommend? Yes! Swimming in the Adriatic every day was wonderful & the islands are beautiful.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate all your comments and have taken these onboard for future improvements. We are really happy to hear you enjoyed your time in Croatia, especially seeing the beautiful islands and daily swimming in secluded bays along the Adriatic - it's just bliss isn't it! Implemented in 2017, we removed all included water bottles from our fleet and replaced each ship with water coolers, promoting guests to bring their own reusable water bottle onboard and doing our part for environmental sustainability. Our chefs aim to provide a variety of meals, using fresh local produce - we are sorry that you didn't enjoy all the meals served, however we are pleased that you found the Captain's dinner enjoyable. We aim to get our guests into Hvar as this is one of the most popular destinations and busiest ports, so we hope you enjoyed your meal in this vibrant town. Next time, we would recommend booking an Above Deck cabin for the ease of having your cabin door opening on to the main deck and avoiding those flights of stairs. Thank you again for your review and for choosing to travel with us!

Review of the cruise on th Queen

Ship was great, especially the size of the cabin, bathroom & shower. Highlight was the daily swims. Not enough storage in the cabin especially for 2 people, or in the bathroom. Suggest adding more shelves in the cabin and bathroom. First 2 days of the cruise the employees were not very friendly. Comment by a lot of passengers. They need to smile more and say good morning. It got better by day 3. They need to have a place where we can get coffee early in the morning so we don't have to wait for breakfast. Meals were just ok and not a lot of food except for buffet breakfast. They need to have snacks available like we saw on other cruise ships for afternoon. Top deck was only open for a short time and then closed the rest of the day, It needs to stay open longer. Several commented that there was not enough help or employees on the ship. No one liked the military Island nor the stop before. Everyone would liked to have 2 days in Hvar. Nick was the best worker and did almost everything.

Great time but could have been better

Overall we were very happy with the cruise however the following may bear consideration: . The tour guide could have been better prepared in that we were directed to some sites that were closed and given inaccurate/ambiguous information regarding pick up points; . our boat, Esperanza, was never anchored within an easy swim to the shore but always in a deep channel; . we were required to pay for tea/coffee when docked but not otherwise; and . our transfer from the airport to our accommodation was deficient in that the driver couldn't find the location and ended up leaving us with directions to walk 100 metres. However his directions were completely wrong, in fact opposite to how we eventually got there....lugging 3 large suitcases

Inconsistent

Get the boat to go faster so we had more time for swimming or exploring towns More time in Dubrovnik Lose the traditional band at the captains dinner, it's not 1975. Last port Marananga was hopeless. Beaches were crowded and no atmosphere. Go to an island instead Food was okay, wine over priced and not good quality. Consider getting wine from other countries Boat was excellent, rooms were well maintained Cruise manager often had inaccurate and out of date information

Room for improvement

Comparing Sail Croatia to 2 other Adriatic cruises on small ships Windstar & Variety at similar cost it would only take a little tweaking to improve “brand” Olimp is a nice new boat with good lower deck cabin size and bathroom. Just 1 hour turnaround between weekly cruises means cleanliness suffers. Acoustics inside dining room had many battling to have a round table conversation and overall food quality competed with onshore Restaurant visits and came second place for most meals unfortunately . Swim stops vs onshore free time compared poorly with Variety cruises program and if I’m being cynical might have something to do with reducing Port Charges and berthing effort same as Windstar. No other cruise at $900/nt fails to put a bottle of water in a cabin with “non potable” sign .Ondeck water cooler ineffective .Toiletries limited to liquid soap pump on wall only . Towels thin scratchy and old . Antonio great - ,issues raised on day 1 Head office ostrich attitude Sad

I want to thank you for your feedback, we do really appreciate this as this enables us to improve for the future. We're pleased to hear you liked Olimp and were happy with the size of the Lower Deck cabins and the ensuite also. Looking through our cabin feedback for Olimp from your departure I can see here that we have been rated 5 stars throughout for cleanliness. Your comments have been passed onto our Operations manager so that we can make the necessary improvements for the future. As the ships are small with very limited storage space on board it is not possible to have bottled water on board for the cabins, I'm afraid. We are also working towards eliminating single use plastics on board, implemented in 2017, we removed all included water bottles from our fleet (prior to 2017, each guest received 2 x water bottles daily), and replaced each ship with water coolers, promoting guests to bring their own reusable water bottle onboard. For this reason we also have refillable soap dispensers in the bathrooms rather than single use shampoo and conditioner bottles. We try our best to aim for a good balance of relaxing and exploring and a lot of reviews we receive do say that we often get the balance right. I'm sorry to hear you were not happy with the times spent at swim stops versus ashore. I have passed your comments here onto our Operations Manager. We do appreciate you as a valued customer of ours and are glad the issues raised did not deter you from having a great time on board.

Beautiful scenery, hardworking staff, accommodations could be improved

There is no sound proofing outside the cabin so you can hear people talking in the hallways, doors opening, tables being moved above the cabin, made it very difficult to sleep. Very few people swam so stopping for this made the time with nothing to do too long. Other than the walking tour in Dubrovnik no others, would be more interesting to have more walking tours. I was surprised there were not more food options. No drinking water in the rooms was irritating. Only juice option was some kind of adulterated orange. There was too much time confined to the boat. Having people wandering through from other boats was strange and made me feel a little unsafe. If you pay extra to have the upper cabins, half the time your view is blocked and the room is dark because another ship is docked right next to you. There was a jacuzzi but not enough power to heat it and since the boat was docked right next to another boat people would be staring over at you.

Cayley, Sales Rep at Sail Croatia replied 2019-08-05:

It is wonderful that you enjoyed Croatia and its beautiful scenery and were happy with the service provided by the on board staff. With regards to your comments on cabins not being sound proof, in the Pre-Departure Information we do suggest to bring along a pair of ear plugs so that you won't hear passengers passing outside your cabin or between boats. Your comments have been passed onto our Operations Manager so that we can improve on all of your suggestions for the future, thank you for your comments here. Although there is no drinking water inside your cabin there is a water cooler available for you to use at all times whilst the salon area is open. The tap water on board is not drinkable, I'm afraid. Regarding boats being moored up together, this is standard with most small ship cruises. The ships are smaller than the larger ocean cruise ships and this allows them to visit the smaller more intimate ports not accessible by larger vessels or where sometimes the larger cruise ships have to dock out at sea and use smaller tender boats to get ashore, meaning you would have less time exploring and will need to stick to time schedules. Harbours are therefore a lot smaller with limited space for mooring. We do appreciate you as a valued customer of ours and are glad the issues raised did not deter you from having a great time in Croatia. Thank you!

Beautiful Croatia

Sail Croatia enabled us to see many of the smaller coastal villages. Felt it to be more intimate than the larger cruise ships. Great food, Tomo our waiter was wonderful and kudos to the deckhand who handled our luggage. Would do again

Great cruise, we’ll worth doing

From the first day and upon entering the cabin we felt really confident our trip would be worth doing. The ship was really clean and well appointed. The meals were good and the organised time table meant that we were at a different island each afternoon/ evening and able to choose a restaurant for dinner. We feel the cleanliness was one of the most important features of the cruise, it made us feel very comfortable. You can feel very confident when you cruise with Sail Croatia.

Great cruise but a few improvements needed

Overall, the cruise was great largely due to traveling with 6 of my friends and meeting an incredible group of people on the boat. Everyone on the boat was extremely nice, adventurous and seasoned travelers so ready for anything! Rooms were clean and actually a decent size. The upper deck provided a nice place to hang out in the am but te lounge area could use some updates. Improvements include making lunch a buffet or optional in order to allow passengers to get to the islands before 3 pm or later which did not allow a lot of time to visit the towns. Staying in town at night was nice but missed opportunities to arrange day activities. The boat should offer to take passengers to shore early to enjoy the islands and participate in excursions or activities. The crew need customer service training...the captain and some of the staff were not friendly, accommodating or willing to go above and beyond for the passengers. Sail Croatia staff and boat staff should collaborate more

Our boat, the Romantic Star, was a beautifully maintained vessel. The staff were hard working, very organised and always keen to accomodate our needs. The boat was kept in pristine condition at all times. Sailing Croatia was a great way to see this beautiful coastline and with plenty of relaxation time on the deck sailing from port to port. The ship, was beautiful, cabins large and nice. Our tour director Nicoleta was fabulous. Of course our destinations were wonderful. Only negative for us was we found the service staff rather cold, although efficient. We would have liked more time, particularly a free evening in Korcula town. Everything really. The rooms, the service, the beautiful places we visited, the food but especially Stanco. He was amazing. His knowledge of the places we visited. He was always available when we needed him. He made our trip for us. The crew were extremely helpful as well. We will return for sure.

Fine dining it was not-very disappointed in the meals.

The crew/Mario/Renato/lovely cabin/great places we visited. However-the meals were a great disappointment. Breakfasts-hard eggs/an inadequate toaster. Lunches-over cooked meat/tuna .and the very overlooked green vegetables.Such a shame-feel the chef needs to go and eat in some decent restaurants to see how it should be done. No tea and coffee available during the day.

Hi there and thank you for your 4-star review. We appreciate your comments regarding the crew, cabin and destinations - we are very pleased to know you enjoyed these aspects. However, we are sorry to hear of your disappointment with the meals. We pride ourselves on providing lovely meals using fresh, local produce and I'm sorry this was not part of your experience. I have passed your comments on to the appropriate parties to review for potential improvements, thank you. Tea and coffee is available during the day at an additional cost which can be viewed via our Online Drinks Prices or onboard your ship. We hope that these issues didn't detract from your experience too much and we thank you for your honest review!

Wonderfull boat, Olimp ! Interesting islands and ports ! Very nice crew with Mia & Renato top class ! The food good, but uninspiring and a very "absent" captain ! Most enjoyable cruise otherwise ! Andre..

Traveling 50's

Everything from the boat THE BAN, the staff and crew , the food , and our cruise manager Nicolette who organized all our excursions, even her own personal knowledge was thrown in!

Luxurious sailing

Our boat was beautiful and the crew were fun, friendly and very helpful. The cabins were spacious and very comfortable and the common areas were fantastic. The daily port docking times were not always ideal as 4pm in the afternoon is the hottest time to tour the towns however, we understand that sometimes in the busy ports this is beyond the crew's control. Meals were very large for lunch, which is great for guys but options for fresh salads instead would have been welcome. Overall, we would recommend this to anyone wanting a snapshot tour of 5 of the 1200 Croatia Islands as it was very comfortable and relaxing.

Not quite 5 star

There were many aspects of this cruise that were superb. The wonderful destinations and planned itinerary coupled with the knowledge of the crew meant that we were well informed about each destination yet it never felt like we were being overly organised. The atmosphere was always relaxed. The crew kept the Boat superbly clean and well maintained and the cabins were always clean and tidy. A couple of minor points that prevent a 5 Star rating: 1. Fixed lunchtime menus with no choice of Starter or Main course. I understand preparation area and storage may be limited however if you don't eat fish..... 2 Cash only for the Bar tab at the end of the cruise can be inconvenient (and difficult if a large amount is required). There should be alternatives for large amounts. Also, no signature required for drinks means that the system is open to mistakes with no way of checking at the end of the week..

Great experience

We thought the trip was well organized and the boat was very comfortable. Croatia is beautiful especially experienced from a boat that was able to anchor for a daily swim stop. Our only complaint was that the food did not match the facilities and Sail Croatia need to make sure that their chefs are properly trained and that meals are tasty and well planned. Otherwise a very memorable holiday. Thank you.

Esperanza

The staff was wonderful - friendly and efficient. Ship was very comfortable, although the dinning room was very noisy (could have used some sound insulation).

Awesome week!

We loved the ease of this cruise and the fact that it was able to go into smaller ports.

- Midge, 05/07/2017 16:52, Travelled with Friend/s

So much better than expected

Loved the cruise, great cabins, crew and boat. Loved the swim stops each day. The only thing that could make it perfect for us is to have some nibbles available to buy with drinks, either sell some platters or even just nuts. Would also love the opportunity to hire a paddle board or kayak from the boat. Don't get me wrong we loved the cruise and willl go again with or without the nibbles!!! Also we thought the cruise was very good value

Dubrovnik to Split cruise

I loved the opportunity to get to know some of "coastal" Croatia by cruising up the coast calling at various islands. The cruise leader and the crew were very helpful and the food was excellent. I appreciated the chance to swim off the boat as well as on some island. beaches. The historical walks arranged were interesting. Altogether Croatia is a beautiful country and the people we met most welcoming.

The people and staff, and weather was great too . The disappointment was not visiting Bol beach and the food wasn't great often cold! This is were the extra star would go

Croatia cruise

The crew were all excellent, serving breakfast and an evening meal instead of lunch and dinner and having more time at each destination rather than docking at 2pm. Breakfast could be improved by serving fresh juices and fresh fruit salad. But overall it was very enjoyable, the Staff and the hostess were all excellent.

Ruby

The new yacht, Esperanza, was a breeze! The crew were friendly, capable and really added much to the experience. Our travel companions were delightful, food prepared by the chef delicious and well-planned. GREAT service, especially Tomo and Josep. The draw back: nickle-and dime-ing passengers for coffee, tea unless is was \"allowed time\". Really? When the doors to the breakfast dining room are open and we go in to get out coffee., that\'s a normal thing on cruises and even the worst of hotels! We found out at the very end that unless we had our coffee/tea AT THE SAME TIME as breakfast, then that was a charge. Really? It was a classy experience with crew, cruise director, great food, plans for passengers. But, if you de-Class the experience by greedy charges, then Sail Croatia needs to consider a better approach.

Wonderful part of the world

the ship was new and gleaming and our cabin #1 large with king bed at bow of ship. The hostess Helene was charming, a jewel and fun. the ports were wonderful tho it would have been nicer to arrive at them earlier in the day than 3 or later..Maybe switch and have dinner onboard and lunch in port? The food was barely passable, would have been better hot or even warm rather than lukewarm or cold.....They need more servers to serve the food hot once plated..It obviously sits for along time before serving. The tip policy should be included in initial info before the sail and not given last night of the cruise. The music went on way too long for Capt\'s dinner, 40-45 min tops. The dinner on Korcula was lovely and delicious....tho would have been much nicer leaving us off at the Konoba and not at the bottom of the hill. My husband walks with poles and it was difficult for him. Some considerations should be made ahead.

Elegance provides perfect cruise for Croatian island hop

Attentive friendly staff (especially Angelo & Ivana) who catered for all our food & wine and onshore needs. Comfortable cabins with enough storage room, lots of swim stops, visits to unique and different islands. Cuisine was creative and generally no complaints. Strongly recommend

- Colleen , 21/09/2016 15:10, Travelled with Friend/s

Overrated.

Nice boat/ship and cabin very nice apart from being smelly. You do get used to the smell quickly so no big deal. Wifi is close to useless. Patchy and not available in cabins. No tea/coffee available but you can purchase an average way overpriced wine. Lunches were fantastic. Breakfast service average. Often waiting on food or certain things not available. Wine poor quality. And five times retail price. No towels for swimming. Other less commercially focused tours in the area are much better. SC charge premium fee but they penny pinch. Never again. And cash only for bar tab???? It's 2016.

Beth, Sales Rep at Sail Croatia replied 2017-03-22:

"Hi, thank you for your feedback on your Elegance cruise. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the boat surroundings, found your cabin to be very nice and enjoyed your 3-course lunches. However, we are sorry to hear there was a smell in your cabin. We have rigorous procedures in place for any issues that arise on-board our cruises, which is included in the pre-departure information emailed to you before the cruise and is outlined at the welcome speech. The first step is to communicate with the crew. If this does not resolve the issue, the second step is to contact our representative in which case we log this in our central reporting and manage the issue onboard until it is fully resolved and customers are happy. We also supply the contact details for our Operations Manager and Managing Director in the unlikely event you are disatisfied with any response from our team members. This procedure does then give us the opportunity to resolve an issue during the trip and follow up or check historical issues. Upon checking our reports, I could not find any notification from you to a member of staff. Had we been made aware of the smelly cabin issue, we would have resolved this immediately for you. The Wi-Fi onboard is subject to data limits and network coverage whilst at sea, however I have passed your comments onto our Operations Team so they can check if additional upgrades are available. Towels for showering are provided in your cabins, however if you require additional towels for swimming these can be requested on-board. With regards to your comment about the drinks prices, these do vary and our prices range from 180-380 Kuna (£18-£40) per bottle of wine. The wines are professionally selected and are also stocked based on the feedback from all guests and local availability. Regarding the cash only bar tab, this is something we are looking into for the future cruises - thank you for your feedback on this.

Great holiday!

Lovely boat, good sized cabins although very little storage (the space under the beds could have been used for drawers and space to store suitcases). Good food but sometimes cold (the first meal was particularly cold - perhaps warmed plates might avoid this). Captain\'s dinner excellent and great fun. Coffee machine often switched off early so that when we came back on board in the evening around 11pm we could not get a coffee. Also lemons and limes were in short supply at times so we could not have mojitos or lemon in a G&T. Because the crew were not employed by Sail Croatia it was sometimes difficult to get things done - we would speak to Ivana but she would say it was up to the captain (who kept away from the guests apart from at the captains dinner). Angelo (the barman/waiter) worked extremely hard but Emma (? trainee) could have done more to help him! These few things could easily be fixed which would make this an even better experience - others on our cruise felt the same..

Great scenery

The food was cold and took too Long to serve. Iit was good food though and the chef is fabulous. There was a young girl on board who appeared to do nothing and could of helped serve the food or collect the dirty plates. The billing system for drinks is very unusual and being cash only seems questionable. The ship and its facilities were first class and the cleanliness of the rooms could not be faulted. The sailors all worked very hard and continued to clean when we were at swim stops (which were also brilliant)). I lived all the ports and staying in port overnight was also excellent. It was a little disappoinring that our hostess wasn't more visual around the ship however she was very helpful when called upon - especially when we had a member of our group who had mobility issues. She made sure the car was nearby at the end of our trip so we didn't have to walk far. These were minor issues that did take the gloss off what was a spectacular cruise.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your Elegance Split Return South cruise. It is fantastic to hear that you thought the ship was first class, the cabins could not be faulted, the food and chef to be fantastic and found your Representative to be very helpful. It sounds as though you had a lovely time. Your comments regarding the system used for bar tabs has been taken into consideration, and we are implementing a new system next season. I have passed your comments on to our Operations Team about the food being cold and the delay in being served, we understand that food quality whilst you're on holiday is a big factor so I am sorry that this had an impact on your cruise. In saying this, we are pleased to hear it was still enjoyable. Thank you again for your feedback.

A good cruise

GOOD BUT NOT GREAT Upsides: It was fun. Wonderful international group of fellow travellers. Cleanliness and quality of the ship. Ivana - a superb tour manager. The comfort of our cabin in general and the bed in particular. The Islands and places we visited all exceeded expectations . Downsides: Meals slightly disappointing and no choice . The DIY coffee at breakfast was diabolical. We had superb food on a similar sized ship on a Barrier Reef cruise so it is possible. No disinfectant hand gel even available - it has been compulsory on every other recent cruise I have been on. Most guests were 60+ Strong undercurrents at some swim stops. No boat in the water or even a member of crew on safety watch. This is sold as a luxury cruise but there were few luxury touches. not even a free hot and cold drinks dispenser. Limited daily water supply on request. etc. etc. Good but lacking the little extras to make it great. Dennis H

Some room for improvement

Ship was excellent, and well maintained. Stops were interesting, and information (and guides) about them useful. Concept of being able to have dinner on our own was quite acceptable, and the dinners provided were excellent. Two places to improve: you should provide more than one free espresso coffee per day; and the food at lunch needs to be improved and to be served more quickly so that it remains hot. Nikolletta (?) was a wonderful hostess.
